2024 C3 BENSON STEEL - ROYAL CONTAINERS KIDS & ADULT POOL TRIATHLON

24th ANNUAL C3  ROYAL CONTAINERS - BENSON STEEL - ROYAL CONTAINERS KIDS & ADULT POOL TRIATHLON
Sunday, MAY 26th

Join 2008 Olympian and Collin Jenkins as the official hosts along with Barrie Shepley for the 2024 event at the Mayfield Swim Complex.  The Caledon event is one of the oldest in Canada and has helped springboard the careers of numerous Olympians but the focus of the May 26th race is to allow the entire family to compete (3-year-olds to 80-year-olds).  We will have 12-13year old (drafting and non-drafting), 14-15 year-olds (drafting or non-drafting option) 16-19 (drafting or non-drafting)+ elites (drafting) and age group athletes.   C3 also has the very popular Adult Pool Division. In 2024, C3 will have a prize money race for the draft legal 16-19 and young pro division.  The highlight of the pool swim triathlon is always the 3-6-year-olds (who can be assisted by their parents).

Registration is now open, sign up here

All athletes 12 years old and older will race 300m swim - 9km bike - 3km run.  Younger athletes will go shorter distances.  Only the 14-15 and 16 to pro category will have a draft legal race (all others will be in a non-drafting event).

COURSE DETAILS

SWIM: The entire swim is in a warm-new 25m x six-lane swimming pool at Mayfield. Waves will have 2 to a maximum of 3 participants per lane and there will be lap counters.

NON-DRAFTING BIKE: The bike is a 3km, flat road that is 100% closed to traffic. Athletes will do 1-3 loops of the 3km bike loop to do your proper bike race distance. The only exception is the 7 & under timed will do half a loop on the road for 1.5km and the 3-6-year-old non-timed kids will stay 100% on the parking lot of the race venue. Helmets and working bikes are required for all participants.

DRAFTING BIKE: The bike is 3km on a flat road that is 100% closed to traffic.  Athletes will be allowed to draft.  The bike is short and fast.

1KM OUT & BACK PAVED RUN We will be using the same paved bike path we used last year.  The run is out 500m and back 500m.  Athletes will do the specific number of laps that are appropriate for their race distance.
